Weddings/Salisbury MD

February 23rd, 2010

January 23 was the first wedding of our 2010 season and boy am I glad they got that in before the back to back blizzards we had. Once again we were hired to do this wedding because several years ago we did the brides sister’s wedding (Crystal and Matt Jones). Another wonderful family that we absolutely adore. Kim Green and Michael Watson had their ceremony at Parkway Church of God and their reception followed at the Salisbury Moose Lodge. It was a cold day but both Kim and Michael braved the elements for some outdoor pictures. Thank you to a wonderful family. It was so nice spending the day with you guys. Great job as always from Freddie the DJ and also Aunt June Long made the couples wedding cake. Mmm Mmm good! The entire wedding will be posted in the next couple of days. Enjoy!

Our first special for 2010 will be for our Seniors!  Any Senior Portrait sitting we book to shoot between March 1st and May 15, 2010 will be 50% off!!!!  Call the studio for your appointment.

Last night was the first Delaware Professional Photographers Associations Print Competition of the  year.  As always I was nervous but still looking forward to see what the judges and my professional peers thought.  It was nice to see everyone again.  The turnout for this first Print Competition was the biggest DPP has ever had.  The biggest change this year is that now everyone is scored together. There is no Master / Non Master category anymore. Now I am competing with the big dogs.  I was pleased to score two merritt prints with a score of 80 for each one. In the Wedding/Candid category I received a Corner, Second place, and Best in Show.  The Portrait category was much tougher, as it always is. My merrited  print with a score of 80 got Fourth place.  I am very happy with the outcome and I am looking forward to the next Print Competition.

Best in Show   Wedding/Candid

“Natural Beauty”

Second Place   Wedding /Candid

“Old World Elegance”

Corner   Wedding/ Candid

“Almost a Man”

Fourth Place  Portrait

“Double Trouble”

Corner  Portrait

“Sleeping Beauties”

Bar Mitzvahs/ Salisbury MD

February 10th, 2010

January 16, 2010 was a very special day for Sam Weider and his family. A few days before his Bar Mitzvah, we took some special portraits at the Beth Israel Synagogue in Salisbury, MD. Sam seemed to be a little nervous even though he had prepared most of his life for this special event. I think he was just anxious to get the hard part over and get to the party. With a Yankees theme and the  party held at Dove Point, it was bound to be a good one. Andrew finally got to wear his Yankee’s shirt to work. This made him very happy. I always tell people not to hold that against him. It really is his only fault. All of Sam’s friends and family had a blast. It was nonstop games and dancing provided by Adler Entertainment. Thanks to mom Nadine and dad Corey for letting us share in Sam’s special day.

Probably the best part of doing what we do, is when we photograph a couples wedding and then continue to share the special moments in their lives. It is so much fun seeing them at their happiest on the biggest day of their lives, their wedding day. At that moment it is hard to imagine that another event will top it, but then the babies start to arrive and it all changes. Being a part of that is so very special to us. Here are just a few of our favorite brides and grooms that have truly changed our lives….

Laura and Jeff Melvin were married on June 30,2007 at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club. The most down to earth couple and every time they walk into our studio it brightens our day. Little Kadence has the best personality and was such a joy to photograph. Here are just a few of the special moments we have shared with them and we can’t wait to meet the newest addition on the way!

Bobbie Jean and Dave Hasbrouck were married at the Fountains in Salisbury, MD on August 25,2007. This wedding was a blast and of course since Bobbie Jean is an award winning hairdresser and her family owns Designer’s Edge Hair Studio they had the best groomed bridal party of the year. Please enjoy a little recap of their family and best of all the newest cutest addition Makena. Congrats guys!

Jen and Billy Hamilton were married May 19, 2007  again another reception at the Fountain’s. We seem to spend a good amount of time there. “I think they like us, they really really like us.” We like them too. We were so excited to hear that Jen and Billy were expecting and when she showed up for her maternity portraits, she had the cutest little belly we had ever seen and when baby Olivia entered this studio you knew why mom had such a  tiny little belly. Olivia was so iddie biddie and cute and the funniest thing was, even though she was only about 3 weeks old, she absolutely refused to fall asleep. She was not going to miss a thing.

Thanks to all our couples for entrusting us with your most prized possessions. Your lives will never be the same and that’s a good thing. Cherish every moment.

Love ,

Kim and Andrew

We are so blessed to have so many loyal customers but we have to give a special shout out to the Elrick and Jones families. We first met mom Suzanne when we were in our early twenties working at a local restaurant. One word that describes her is, Crazy!!! Her daughter Jenna is going to be her payback. LOL!!! We have been photographing her girls Jenna and Elana for several years now and it always brightens our day when they walk through the door. Our advice to parents is to choose a photographer that wants to get to know your kids, takes their time, and makes it the best experience possible. Don’t settle for cookie-cutter images. Taking your kids from place to place is not doing them any favors.  Don’t put so much pressure on your little ones and if they have a funny little smile or a cranky face then value that. Our goal is to document their personalities and most important of all is kids will  have good and bad days. Choose a photographer that is sympathetic to this. Thanks you so much to Suzanne, Bill, Jenna, and Elana. We love you!

We had the good fortune to meet Jen and JJ Jones a few years ago when we photographed their wedding. Since then we have shot the family portraits on both sides of the family. We have photographed JJ’s brother Patrick’s wedding as well as Jen’s sister Missy’s wedding.   What a great warm and loving family.  They truly make us feel like we are part of their family.  Both families are so warm and generous to Kim and I and it really lets us feel rewarded for what we do. Kim and I finally got the chance to shoot little Ethan right before Christmas. I snuck him in just in time for the holidays. He is so cute.

Thank you all for letting us into your families and sharing the most important events in your lives with us. I hope we can share in many, many more!!

Hey guys!I don’t know what made me think to go on your website but I’m so glad to see two of our pictures are still up! That makes me feel so special. I get sooo many compliments on our wedding album. Every person who sees it says “It’s the most beautiful wedding album I’ve ever seen!” and they are not joking around or exageration.

Now, over 2yrs. later, I’m thanking you once again. I get so happy when I look at our album that it almost brings tears to my eyes. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME! You really made that day special for me and Craig and we will NEVER forget it. (obviously because I’m emailing you again over 2 yrs. later!) Not only are you guys great photographers but you have great personalities too. Never once did we feel uncomfortable and you guys were fun!

I hope all is well with your business and family life. You guys are really great at what you do. Not only did you take great pictures and make me feel beautiful on my wedding day, but you gave us memories that will last forever.(sorry I know, gettin a little cheesy here! but it’s how I feel) Again thank you very much. Please keep in touch.

Pet Photography/Salisbury MD

January 19th, 2010

Right after the Holidays our family suffered a huge loss. Our 14 year old yellow lab passed away. He was the most awesome dog you could ever have and I will never forget the day we went to the Wicomico County Humane Society just to take a look. We had been thinking about getting our daughter Danielle a yellow lab for her birthday. When we arrived there was a large litter of puppies that had been brought in. They were all different colors and didn’t look anything like labs but back in the corner sat this one adorable yellow puppy. So quiet and reserved. That was the one. Our daughter was very into Barney at the time and we knew that would be her name choice so we kind of told a little white lie and said he already had the name the Barkley. Sure enough the first words out of her mouth were, “Oh, can we name him Barney?” This dog was not the sharpest tool in the shed but what he lacked in intelligence he more than made up for in kindness and loyalty. I’ll never forget Oprah had a special on about testing your dogs intelligence. The idea was you throw a towel over his head and you count how long it takes them to take the towel off. Barkley fell into the categoryof thinking the lights went out. In other words, he just sat there. There was never a jealous or mean bone in his body and when our twins came along he was just as wonderful with them. Towards the end he was  getting to the point where he couldn’t get around very well and he had to have pain meds just to get up and down. We had finally made the decision we had to put him to sleep. The vet was scheduled to come at 11am and when we awoke he had already passed in the night. I truly believe he did not want us to have to make that decision and waited for us to go to bed. This has been the hardest thing to talk about and I think anyone who owns a pet understands how we feel. I guess the thing we are most thankful for are all wonderful pictures we have of him and we added 2 new additions to our family who are helping us with the healing process. Just wanted to share some pictures of these special family members and remind people to love your pets, treat them as if they are your family, and let us photograph them. One day those images will give you so much joy.
